Read the Psalms & Proverbs again. . . for the very first time. Experience the most often-read books of the Bible in a fresh, eye-opening way. The books of Psalms and Proverbs are presented in a thirty-one day devotional format. Each daily devotional includes readings from both Psalms and Proverbs that are selected to inspire and instruct. The Psalms pull every scrap and dimension of human expeience into the presence of God, and the Proverbs sharpen our insights into every day life. Peterson's version will challenge you to see God's Word in a whole new light.

Writer and poet Eugene Peterson translates and interprets, often loosely, the Psalms and Proverbs. They're organized into 31 groups, after Billy Graham's practice of daily reading from these Books. The decidedly contemporary language may offend King James traditionalists and sound refreshingly accessible to others. The problem with this otherwise well-produced audio is the narration by Kelly Ryan Dolan, who sounds like an overzealous youth minister talking to uninterested teenagers. The writing is also overwrought, using language that condescends to listeners rather than speaking to them with wisdom and respect. T.W. (c) AudioFile 2004, Portland, Maine
